Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC)
Introduction

The Equal Opportunity Cell has been established under the enabling framework of Section 36 of the Mahatma Gandhi University Act, 2010, which empowers the university to form committees to address specific institutional objectives. Additionally, the EOC complies with the directives issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and operates as a cornerstone of the university’s commitment to social justice and affirmative action.
The Equal Opportunity Cell is mandated to:
- Promote Inclusivity: Ensure equal access and opportunities for students and staff irrespective of caste, creed, gender, religion, socio-economic status, or physical ability.
- Monitor Non-Discrimination: Identify and eliminate discriminatory practices in academic, administrative, and co-curricular domains.

Procedures and Mechanisms
- Complaint Submission: Any member of the university can lodge complaints related to discrimination or inequality with the EOC. Complaints may be submitted via email, grievance portals, or in person.
- Inquiry and Resolution: The EOC investigates complaints impartially, involving evidence collection and interviews, and resolves them within 30 days.
- Recommendations: Based on findings, the EOC recommends corrective measures or actions to the university authorities.
- Annual Reporting: The EOC prepares and submits an annual report to the Academic Council and the Board of Governors, detailing its activities, the number of grievances addressed, and policy recommendations.
