MEGHALAYA, November 6, 2025: The Department of Pharmacy at Mahatma Gandhi University, Meghalaya, became a crucible of academic excellence and competitive spirit as it successfully hosted the state-level round of the Indian Pharmaceutical Association IPA-2025 competition on its campus yesterday. The event, held under the auspices of Hon’ble Chancellor Dr. Rajan Chopra, was conceived as a dynamic platform to stimulate intellectual rigour, professional advancement, and constructive rivalry among the pharmacy students of the region.

The inauguration ceremony set a tone of scholarly aspiration, graced by the presence of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Dr. Sagar Manjare. In his inaugural address, Dr. Manjare lauded the initiative, underscoring its critical role in nurturing a culture of innovation that aligns with the nation’s evolving healthcare demands. The event was presided over by Dr. Y. Krishna Reddy, Principal of the School of Pharmacy and IPA State Co-ordinator for Meghalaya, whose opening remarks framed the day’s objectives. Adding a significant dimension to the discourse, Dr. Amalesh Adhikary, Principal of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, eloquently bridged disciplines, highlighting the indispensable role of communication and holistic knowledge in shaping well-rounded healthcare professionals.
The intellectual rigour of the competition was ensured by a panel of distinguished jurists from premier institutions in Assam, bringing a wealth of external expertise to the proceedings. The panel included Dr. R Chakarborty, Principal of Assam Don Bosco University; Dr. Chennu MM Prasada Rao, Dean of Royal Global University; and Dr. Rituraj Bharadwaj, Principal of NEPEDS College of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Their collective experience provided not only meticulous evaluation but also invaluable, constructive critiques that enriched the learning experience for every participant.
A spirited display of talent unfolded as students from Mahatma Gandhi University and the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) engaged in a series of meticulously prepared oral and visual presentations. The atmosphere was charged with a competitive yet collaborative energy, showcasing a high standard of scientific inquiry and problem-solving skills. After a rigorous assessment, the adjudicators identified two standout performers: Ms. Tabsum Naz Laskar from USTM and Mr. Willson Lyndoh from MGU. Their exemplary performances have earned them the honour of representing Meghalaya at the prestigious national round of the IPA-2025 competition.
The closing ceremony was a moment of celebration and reflection. The winners were felicitated with certificates and mementos by the dignitaries, while the judging panel shared profound insights on the imperative of embedding research-oriented learning and innovation-driven skill development within pharmaceutical education. The event drew to a close with a formal vote of thanks from the organizing committee, which expressed sincere gratitude to the university management, faculty, students, and the IPA for their collective efforts in bringing the vision to fruition.
