Founder-Chancellor of MGU, Dr. Rajan Chopra meets the Hon’ble President of India

Founder – Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University, Meghalaya Dr. Rajan Chopra met the Hon’ble President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind on 27th October, 2021 at the Rashtrapati Bhawan to extend his warm greetings for the auspicious festive season. Both the distinguished guests discussed the scope and strategic improvement in the educational sector of the state of Meghalaya. Dr. Rajan Chopra emphasized on delivering free education for the financially weak section of the state.
Since its establishment the University has developed a strong bond with the tribal society of the neighboring villages in the Ri-Bhoi district. Mahatma Gandhi University, Meghalaya recently introduced free education for orphaned students during COVID-19. In addition to this Dr. Rajan Chopra also briefed the President about the welfare schemes announced by the University. Likewise a scholarship of 50% for all the students of Meghalaya, and a scholarship of 80% for the students who belong to BPL category residing in any state of north-east. The University during COVID-19 took the initiative for distribution of free food and other essentials. The University in collaboration with Unnat Bharat Abhiyan has organized various camps for distribution of COVID essentials and vaccination awareness camp.
Located amidst the mystic hills in the Ri-Bhoi District of Meghalaya, Mahatma Gandhi University offers courses in Humanities, Science & Technology, Management, Law, Allied Health Sciences, etc. MGU, Meghalaya also offers numerous vocational training courses. The University proposes to hold a National seminar in the month of November, 2021.
Dr. Rajan Chopra said he is hopeful that this discussion will open new opportunities in the field of education and vocational training in Meghalaya.
