CELEBRATION OF 152ND GANDHI JAYANTI AT MAHATMA GANDHI UNIVERSITY

Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated in India every year on 2nd October to observe the birth anniversary of Father of the nation Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi whom we also called as Mahatma Gandhi and Bapuji. Gandhi Jayanti is observed every year to celebrate the ideas of non-violence and unity promoted by Gandhiji. This day is also celebrated as International Day of non- violence. Amidst the pandemic, Mahatma Gandhi University, Ri-Bhoi District, Meghalaya celebrated Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd October, 2021 with great enthusiasm in the university premises. The whole event was meticulously planned by the University Administration.

The program was hosted by Deepti Rekha Talukdar, Assistant Professor of Department of Commerce, MGU. The program commenced with the lightning of the lamp followed by the welcome speech by Dr. M.K. Kulshreshtha, The Vice Chancellor, MGU and a heartwarming speech on Mahatma Gandhi’s life by Dr. Dinesh Baishya, Dean of Academics, MGU. The program ended with the vote of thanks by Deepti Rekha Talukdar, Assistant Professor of Department of Commerce, MGU.
