The Decorative Items Making Workshop

One day workshop was conducted on the decorative items making under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan of Mahatma Gandhi University, Ri Bhoi district of Meghalaya on 15th December 2018. The venue was Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra near Mahatma Gandhi University. The programme was initiated by the felicitation ceremony of the Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University, Meghalaya, Dr. Mohan Bhattacharjee, the trainer Miss Kalpana Baruah, Mr. Sakir Hussain project Manager of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra and Pushpa Chetry Centre Head of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra. Miss Subungshri Basumatary, faculty of Information Technology of Mahatma Gandhi University felicitated Dr. Mohan Bhattacharjee. Miss Ambrosia Tyngkra, faculty of Education of Mahatma Gandhi University felicitated Miss Kalpana Baruah and Mr. Sakir Hussain. Mrs. Jayita Baruah, faculty of Commerce and Management of Mahatma Gandhi University felicitated Miss Pushpa Chetry. The ceremony was followed by the lighting of the lamp, welcome address provided by Dr. Mohan Bhattacharjee, speech of Miss Mamata Pandit, institutional Nodal officer of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan on the programme. The program was hosted by Mr. Rajdeep Borgohain, faculty of History of Mahatma Gandhi University. Then the workshop was started and continued for the whole day. Total number of the participants of the workshop was 30. At first the participants were divided in seven groups with five members in each group and then the raw materials were distributed among them and they were asked to prepare decorative items by following the trainer Miss Kalpana Baruah.
The participants were instructed by the Nodal officer and the trainer to prepare the decorative items and they were very excited to prepare that and at last they prepared twelve decorative items and after that they participated in question answer round with Nodal officer and the trainer. Their main questions were where to get the raw materials, what is the price of the raw materials in the market, what will be the price of the finished products etc. The trainer and the Nodal officer answered to their questioned boldly. They requested to organize one more workshop on preparation of utility products. For the smooth functioning of the program Mrs. Basabi Chutia, Jitumoni Terron, Mayur Pratim Goswami had provided their helping hand to UBA unit of Mahatma Gandhi University. At last the programme was concluded by vote of thanks provided by Miss Ambrosia Tyngkra.
