Mahatma Gandhi University proudly announces the 1st National Conference on Social Science and Humanities on 20th and 21st December, 2018 in its campus. The conference aimed at presenting current research being carried out. NCSSH2018 aims to bring together researchers, social scientist, social workers, philanthropist and students to share and exchange their experiences, innovative ideas, research results of all aspects of Social Sciences and Humanities.
On the first day, the conference started off from 10 am onwards and MGU is privileged to host the chief guest of the conference Smt. R.M Kurbah, Deputy Commissioner of Ri-Bhoi District, Meghalaya. The Guest of honour for the program was the very renowned professor Dr. D.K Nayak, Dept of Geography, NEHU. We feel privileged to host two of the much esteemed professors, Prof. Maitrayi Chaudhuri from JNU, New Delhi and Prof Shiela Bora, Former professor of History department from Dibrugarh University. With the lightening of the lamp the program was inaugurated. We felicitated our guest with a gamusa, a bouquet and a memento as a token of thanksgiving and appreciation. The host, Miss Pratyakshi Goswami, Cultural Head and Media Manager, invited the Vice Chancellor Dr. Mohan Bhattacharya for the welcome speech. The convener of the conference Dr. Nayanmoni Saikia presented a brief introduction about the conference. Prof. Nayak inspired the participants and the audience with his inspirational speech. Our chief guest of the day Smt. R.M Kurbah also delivered a speech where she mentioned her gratitude towards the university for inviting her and appreciation on the conference. The inauguration program was concluded by the vote of thanks by the Registrar, Dr. Nayanmoni Saikia. The plenary session was hosted by the esteemed professor of JNU, Delhi, Prof. Maitrayi Chaudhuri. Keynote speaker, Prof Shiela Bora gave a speech on the said topic stating some relevance with the modern day life. After a lunch break, the parallel technical session by the Research scholars was held in different seminar halls.
The second day of the conference, i.e., on 21 st December, we observed a speech by the keynote speaker Prof. Akhil Ranjan Dutta, a very renowned professor from Political Science Department of Guwahati University, which was really appreciated and encouraged by the participants and the audience. After a lunch break, the parallel technical session by the Research scholars was held in different seminar halls. The valedictory function was observed after the parallel sessions got over. The Research scholars, VC and Registrar of MGU were invited to the dais and were felicitated with a gamusa, bouquet and a memento. We extended to the participants if anyone would like to share some words, few of the participants expressed their gratitude to the University for conducting the conference and that how grateful they are to be benefitted by attending the sessions of the renowned professors of esteemed Universities. The Vice Chancellor of MGU shared some words of wisdom on behalf of the University and the program was concluded by the vote of thanks by Pratyakshi Goswami.
The Mahatma Gandhi University, Meghalaya is established with the motto to support the overall growth and prosperity of the country, especially the region of its establishment. Keeping in mind its vision, the University has organized the 1st National Conference on Social Sciences and Humanities 2018 to take its part in the support of the social scientists, academician, research scholars and students of not just social sciences and humanities but education as a whole.
With a hope and belief that we shall be privileged to host many more such conferences in the upcoming years with and that it grows better and better.
